Scrum ceremonies are organized gatherings that take place as part of the framework to assess progress, pinpoint and resolve problems, and make future plans. A framework called Scrum is used to create and deliver complicated products. It is founded on the ideas of openness, scrutiny, and adaptation.
Scrum is an Agile methodology that is commonly used in software development to manage complex projects. Scrum divides work into short, iterative cycles called sprints. Within each sprint, there are several ceremonies or meetings that the Scrum team holds to keep the project on track and ensure that everyone is aligned.
In Scrum, there are four key ceremonies:
Sprint Planning
At the beginning of each sprint (iteration), a meeting is held to plan the work that will be accomplished during the sprint. The necessary tasks are identified, their effort estimates are made, and they are then added to the sprint backlog.
Daily Stand-Up
The daily scrum, or daily stand-up, is a brief meeting held each day where team members respond to three questions:
- What did I do yesterday?
- What will I do today?
- Are there any impediments in my way?
The daily stand-up gives the team a chance to collaborate and keep on the same page regarding the work that needs to be done.
Sprint Review
At the conclusion of each sprint, a meeting called the “sprint review” is held to assess the work that has been done and present it to the stakeholders. The group talks on what was accomplished, what was discovered, and how the subsequent sprint might be improved.
Sprint Retrospective
Looking at the conclusion of each sprint, a meeting known as a “sprint retrospective” is held to review the sprint and discuss ways to streamline team operations. The group examines what went well, what didn’t, and what might be changed moving forward to make improvements.
There are additional meetings that may be held inside the Scrum framework in addition to these principal ones, such as grooming meetings to improve the product backlog and stakeholder meetings to talk about project progress and handle any issues.
